Apple appeals EU’s €500M fine over App Store payment restraints

The European Commission’s €500 million fine against Apple over App Store practices is now under appeal. The regulator accused Apple of failing to comply with Digital Markets Act provisions requiring support for outside payment routes.
Apple introduced a revised fee system in the EU in June to address alternative payments, but EU officials said the company’s original rules had already violated the law.
The iPhone maker argues the fine “goes far beyond what the law requires” and warned that the Commission’s stance could disrupt how its marketplace operates.
Apple has asked the courts to overturn the decision, calling it unprecedented in scale and impact.
