Jack Dorsey’s Bluetooth messaging app Bitchat now on App Store

Bitchat, created by Twitter and Block founder Jack Dorsey, has been released for iOS users. According to Dorsey, the app’s foundation was coded in early July over one weekend, showing his active role in its development.
The app utilizes Bluetooth mesh networking to send messages between devices up to roughly 100 meters apart without the need for internet access. This makes it an appealing option for off-grid communication.
Its pared-down design bypasses account creation and opens straight to a chat interface, where users can see and join nearby conversations and update display names as they wish.
Dorsey has not directly addressed counterfeit apps on Google Play but reposted a cautionary note warning that the official app has yet to launch on Android.
