Apple has introduced a new slimline device, the iPhone Air, measuring just 5.6mm thick. Unveiled on September 9, Tim Cook described it as the “biggest leap ever for iPhone,” making it the first major new model since 2017. It will retail for $999, placed between the standard iPhone 17 and the Pro.
All iPhone 17 devices come with the A19 Pro chip and the N1 wireless chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Pro models gain vapor chamber cooling, while the full lineup ships with the Liquid Glass design on iOS 26.
The event also introduced the Apple Watch Series 11 with 5G and hypertension detection, the Ultra 3 with satellite communication, and the AirPods Pro 3, priced at $249, featuring heart-rate tracking, expanded workouts, enhanced noise cancellation, and live translation.
Apple’s AI segment offered minor upgrades, notably live translation within Apple Intelligence. Analysts see the company’s long-term AI ambitions reaching fruition closer to 2027.
