Anthropic’s Value Triples as Funding Round Boosts It to $170B

Anthropic is set to secure up to $5 billion in a funding round that values the AI start-up at $170 billion, Bloomberg reported on July 29. The round is being led by Iconiq Capital.
The new valuation is almost three times higher than it was just four months ago, propelling Anthropic into the top tier of private tech companies such as OpenAI ($300 billion), ByteDance ($312 billion), and SpaceX ($400 billion).
Industry sources say the round will raise between $3 billion and $5 billion, with Iconiq considering a $1 billion stake. This announcement follows news that Anthropic was pursuing talks with Middle Eastern investors, including the UAE’s MGX fund.
Based in San Francisco, Iconiq Capital manages more than $80 billion and has stakes in firms like Airbnb, GoFundMe, Databricks, Monzo, Uber, and Zoom.
Earlier this year, Anthropic raised $3.5 billion in a Series E funding round, increasing its valuation to $61.5 billion. Google has also provided over $1 billion in funding, while Amazon has invested $8 billion.
Last year, the company opened its first European office in Dublin. In May, it launched its Claude 4 AI models, including Claude Opus 4, which it called the leading coding model in the world.
